About Us
Discover how we bring clean energy, sustainable farming, and enterprise opportunities to rural communities.
Who We Are
Rooted in Lothair, we connect practical innovation with the ambitions of rural communities.
AGT CIE is a centre of innovation and entrepreneurship established with support from the Technology Innovation Agency (TIA). We operate at the intersection of renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and rural enterprise development. Our home is Springgrove Estate in Lothair, at the heart of the Gert Sibande District—a region rich in agricultural potential yet underserved in clean energy and modern farming practices.

Our Focus Areas
Three connected areas of work that support cleaner energy, healthier land, and stronger rural enterprises.

Biogas Technology
Biogas is a clean, renewable energy source produced from organic waste. It burns cleanly without smoke, reduces indoor air pollution, and provides an affordable alternative to wood, paraffin, and LPG. We train communities to produce their own biogas and use it for cooking and heating.
Who We Serve
Creating opportunities for people and groups across our rural communities.
We are committed to inclusive development. Our programmes prioritize:
- Women
- Youth
- People with Disabilities (PWD)
- School Children & Learners
- Smallholder and Subsistence Farmers
- Community-Based Organizations
We do not discriminate. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to build a better future.
Where We Work
Local roots and a shared commitment to the future of the Gert Sibande District.
Our focus is the Gert Sibande District in Mpumalanga, South Africa. We are based in Lothair and serve surrounding rural communities including:
- Fernie
- Warburton
- Dundonald
- Mayflower
- And other rural areas in the district
